    • Sex with a partner who has HIV
    • Have not consistently used a condom
    • Been diagnosed with an STI in the past 6 months
  • Folks who are actively injecting drugs and...
    • Have an injection partner with HIV
    • Share needles, syringes, or other drug injection equipment

Pill Form

  • Truvada
    • Established 2012 – approval by FDA
    • Now being used to prevent
    • Get 90 days supply
      • Go to the doctor for testing every 3 months
  • Descovy
    • Established 2016
    • Also 90-day supply
    • Only form of PrEP that is not recommended for those assigned FEMALE at birth
  • Most Common Side Effects of Pill Medication
    • Headaches
    • Nausea
    • Diarrhea
    • Loss of Appetite
    • Body Aches
    • Chills
    • If severe, can cause kidney and liver damage

Injection

  • Apretude
    • Established December 2021
    • Long-acting injectable form
    • Check-up with primary doctor every 2 months compared to every 3 with the oral medication
